For a TortoiseHg pull from an HTTP or HTTPS repository, configure Mercurial's http_proxy section in the appropriate hgrc or mercurial.ini file:

[http_proxy]
host = proxy.example:8080

Choose the file for the intended scope: per-user configuration for that user's work, or repository configuration for a narrower setting. Locations differ by platform, and several scopes can contribute values. Replace the example host and port with the approved endpoint. For a public repository on a route allowing public intermediaries, the HTTP proxy list offers candidates for those fields.

Check the repository URL before applying this setting. An SSH repository uses a different transport; these options do not turn it into an HTTP request. A browser opening the repository's website does not test that SSH route.

If the intermediary requires authentication, Mercurial provides separate user and passwd proxy options. They identify the proxy account, not the repository account. Keep private credentials out of shared configuration examples.

The section also provides a bypass list and an always option affecting bypass behavior. Inspect those if the entered endpoint is not selected for the intended host.

Once the request reaches the repository, it can still require its own login. Preserve that account while correcting the proxy route or proxy authentication.
