Requests exposes a Request class and a lowercase request function. A capitalization change can call a valid API with the wrong argument list instead of producing a simple unknown-function error.

The Request object describes the HTTP message. Proxy configuration belongs to the API that sends it. For an ordinary call:

response = requests.request(
    'GET', 'https://example.com/',
    proxies=routes, timeout=15
)

Here routes is the proxy mapping selected for this operation. For permitted public requests, the free proxy list offers candidates to format with a protocol supported by that Requests installation. Passing the same proxies keyword into requests.Request's constructor is not equivalent.

If the application intentionally uses prepared requests, keep the message preparation and send configuration separate. The session's sending flow also needs the intended environment merging, timeout, verification, and proxy settings.

Fix the API mismatch before replacing proxy endpoints. A constructor TypeError occurs before that object has carried out the intended network request.
