HttpClient httpClient = HttpClient.create()
    .proxy(proxy -> proxy.type(ProxyProvider.Proxy.HTTP)
        .host("203.0.113.10").port(8080));

WebClient client = WebClient.builder()
    .clientConnector(new ReactorClientHttpConnector(httpClient))
    .build();

Use this WebClient for the call. For public services on a permitted public-proxy route, the HTTP proxy list supplies host and port candidates; confirm CONNECT access to the actual destination. The HttpClient/ProxyProvider types are Reactor Netty's, not Java's standard client. Another injected WebClient can keep another connector.

Reactor Netty's documented Netty HTTP proxy path uses CONNECT regardless of destination scheme. A plain HTTP target can therefore need tunnel permission to its port even when the proxy accepts ordinary forwarded HTTP there. Read the actual proxy response before changing the URL's scheme. For a compatible Spring 6.2 deployment needing ordinary HTTP/1.1 forwarding, the Jetty 12.0.35 connector example provides that alternative.

For JVM-property routing, choose Reactor Netty's documented opt-in configuration. A property present in the JVM does not configure every connector.

Keep proxy setup/authentication, destination TLS and application responses separate. The connector supplies the route, not the destination's credentials or protocol result.
