Connect the ngrok Agent Through an HTTP Proxy with Config v3

Set the ngrok agent’s outbound proxy in a version 3 configuration file and account for long-lived connection limits.

For a version 3 ngrok configuration, the outbound proxy belongs under agent:

On Windows, use ngrok config check to identify/check the selected file and ngrok config edit to edit it. Merge the proxy field without replacing authentication or endpoint definitions, then restart the agent.

Use the corporate listener's URL. For a separate authorized public-service test with no proxy account, an HTTP entry from the HTTP proxy list may supply proxy_url; confirm that its policy permits the long-lived agent connection. Version 2 put agent options at top level; copying that placement into a version 3 file changes the configuration shape.

If the agent connects but repeatedly drops, investigate the proxy's duration or size limits and whether this outbound connection is permitted. A short web request succeeding does not establish that a long-lived ngrok session is allowed.
