vlcj delegates media access to native LibVLC. Pass the proxy option when constructing the MediaPlayerFactory used to create the player:

import uk.co.caprica.vlcj.factory.MediaPlayerFactory;

var factory = new MediaPlayerFactory(
    "--http-proxy", "http://proxy.example.net:8080");
var player = factory.mediaPlayers().newMediaPlayer();

The option and its value are separate constructor arguments, matching LibVLC’s argument interface. The resulting player uses that factory’s native instance configuration. An HTTP endpoint from the HTTP proxy list can fill the proxy argument for permitted public-media access.

Changing Java’s http.proxyHost property does not automatically replace this native HTTP setting. Likewise, a media player created from another factory can have another configuration.

Confirm that the loaded LibVLC version and its HTTP access module support the option. Passing an unsupported argument through Java does not add that feature to the native library.

This configures HTTP media access. It does not convert every media protocol, such as RTSP or UDP, into an HTTP proxy request. Release the player and then its owning factory through the application’s normal vlcj lifecycle.
