The AWS SDK for Ruby exposes an http_proxy client option. An existing CloudSearchDomain integration using the version 3 service gem can select its route at construction:

require 'aws-sdk-cloudsearchdomain'

client = Aws::CloudSearchDomain::Client.new(
  region: 'us-east-1',
  endpoint: domain_endpoint,
  http_proxy: 'http://proxy.example.net:8080'
)

The application supplies its real domain endpoint and AWS credential configuration. The endpoint remains the CloudSearch service address. If that domain is publicly reachable and public intermediaries are permitted, an HTTP candidate from the HTTP proxy list can supply the proxy URI for a client with no proxy account configured. The proxy option accepts a proxy URI, documented as a string or URI::HTTP object.

Use this configured client for the service operations that need the route. The SDK retains its normal request serialization and signing while its HTTP transport sends through the selected intermediary.
