If the traceback fails inside module initialization, the first API call may have happened during import. A proxy assignment later in the application is too late for that request.

For an environment-aware client, provide the route at launch:

http_proxy='http://proxy.example:8080' https_proxy='http://proxy.example:8080' python app.py

For permitted public downloads, the HTTP proxy list supplies candidates for these launch-time HTTP proxy values. Python-side environment setup likewise must precede the network-making import. A client using another explicit transport needs its own supported input.

A successful import caches its module object. Changing variables and importing again normally reuses that object and its cached client; it is not a reliable initialization reset. Use documented reconfiguration or a fresh process to compare startup behavior.
