Save the HTTP proxy on the Wi-Fi network where you intend to use it. Android's setting belongs to that network; switching to mobile data or another Wi-Fi connection does not establish the same route.

Before changing anything, note the current Proxy setting and make an IP-check request in your intended browser. Then:

  1. Open the connected Wi-Fi network's settings.
  2. Look for Edit, Modify network or advanced options, then find Proxy. Manufacturers arrange these menus differently.
  3. Select Manual. Enter the proxy address as the hostname/server and the port separately.
  4. Save, stay on that Wi-Fi and make a fresh request to the same IP checker. Also open an ordinary HTTPS page if that is the traffic you need.

For 203.0.113.10:8080, the fields would be 203.0.113.10 and 8080; replace this documentation endpoint with yours or an entry from the HTTP proxy list. It must provide HTTP proxy service. A SOCKS5 address cannot be substituted into an HTTP field.

If access fails, confirm the protocol and port, then compare another entry of the same protocol. A proxy may handle HTTP while denying HTTPS CONNECT. Restore the previous network Proxy setting—or select None if that was the original policy—before considering unrelated network changes. Reload the test page; forgetting the Wi-Fi network or resetting all settings is usually unnecessary.

Check each application that matters. A browser result says little about a game's sockets or a voice call; applications can ignore the system HTTP proxy. Recheck after changing networks.
