Set a Proxy for Sublime Text’s Package Control
Save Package Control’s own proxy settings without editing its defaults or weakening the HTTPS package source.
Open Preferences → Package Settings → Package Control → Settings – User. Keep edits in the user file so an upgrade does not replace them.
For one HTTP proxy serving both HTTP and HTTPS downloads:
{
"http_proxy": "proxy.example:8080"
}
Merge that field into the existing JSON object. Package Control expects host:port values here; the HTTP proxy list can provide candidates when public package downloads may use an unauthenticated intermediary. Leave package and channel URLs as their intended HTTPS URLs.
When https_proxy is unset, it inherits http_proxy. Supply another host:port value when HTTPS downloads need a different intermediary. The special value false disables inheritance; it differs from leaving the field empty.
An authenticated service also has proxy_username and proxy_password settings. Keep a credential-bearing user file out of shared settings exports.
If a download fails, enable Package Control's debug setting and inspect the Sublime console for the failed URL, selected downloader, and HTTP result. Turn verbose logging off after the investigation.
