ClientConfig config = new ClientConfig();
config.connectorProvider(new ApacheConnectorProvider());
config.property(ClientProperties.PROXY_URI,
                "http://203.0.113.10:8080");

The Apache connector documents PROXY_URI, PROXY_USERNAME and PROXY_PASSWORD. This fragment belongs to the configuration actually passed into client construction, including a framework-owned path. For public services where public intermediaries are permitted, the HTTP proxy list supplies candidates for the shown credential-free PROXY_URI.

Check the connector artifact and Jersey major version. javax.ws.rs and jakarta.ws.rs examples are different API generations.

Destination authentication does not fill the proxy fields. Use the response stage to distinguish 407 from service authentication; another correctly configured Jersey client beside the framework's existing one does not reroute it.
