curl’s --noproxy Has No Extra Hyphen
Use curl’s documented selective bypass option instead of treating --no-proxy as its interchangeable spelling.
The documented bypass-list option is --noproxy. The spelling --no-proxy is not an interchangeable alias.
curl uses a --no- prefix for negating supported boolean options. Proxy selection takes an argument, which made the extra-hyphen spelling a historical parsing trap. Do not infer its behavior from an old release's accidental acceptance.
curl --noproxy internal.example https://internal.example/That supplies a selective bypass rule. For an explicitly direct operation, an empty --proxy value expresses a different choice:
curl --proxy "" https://example.com/Use the documented option for the behavior you need and inspect the exact command being executed. A spelling fix should come before changing proxy credentials, DNS configuration, or the network's access policy.
