For Dante 1.4, a local-only listener and selected outgoing source can be represented as:

internal: 127.0.0.1 port = 1080
external: 192.0.2.20

Replace the documentation source with an address assigned to the host. Keep the existing authentication and client/SOCKS rules; this fragment only selects addresses. The loopback listener is suitable for local clients or a separately protected forwarding path.

internal accepts clients and external selects an outward source. They are connection roles, not a requirement for exactly two physical network cards.

The Dante reference also permits an external interface name. Check address families and selection for an interface containing several addresses; its name does not promise rotation across every public address.

With multiple external entries, external.rotation controls a documented selection policy. Do not infer a fresh random public IP from the word rotation alone.

For an unexpected exit, check the SOCKS endpoint used, external selection, valid outward/return route and later NAT. Providers can reject an unsuitable source, and translation can replace a correctly selected one. Editing the internal listener changes entry access rather than the final internet identity.
